Dr. TROY DIXON, Lead Pastor

Pastor Troy has served as the lead Pastor of Normandy Park since 2007. Born and raised on Jacksonville's Westside, he has served churches in the panhandle of Florida and Alabama. A graduate of The Baptist College of Florida and The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, he is passionate about the local church. His heart is leading people to know Christ personally and become disciple-making disciples. He has authored three books on missions, evangelism, and discipleship.

He and his wife Susan are the parents of three great children, Joshua, Jonathan, and Gracie, two fantastic daughters-in-law, a pampered rescue dog, and the proud grandparents of Thomas. He loves cycling, cooking BBQ, reading, photography, and watching Florida football during his downtime.

VERNEL OBERES, Worship Pastor

Vernel has been serving at Normandy Park Baptist Church since 2016. Born and raised in the Philippines, he moved to the United States after high school. Vernel is a graduate of Columbia International University (South Carolina), and has been serving as a Worship Pastor at various churches in Northeast Florida for over 30 years.  

He and his wife Jaylyn have two children, Jazmyn (Go UF Gators!) and Joshua (Go UCF Knights!). 

His life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

CHRISTINA CROWDER, Ministry Assistant

Christina has been serving at Normandy Park Baptist Church since 2018. Born and raised in the Arlington area of Jacksonville, Christina has made the Westside of Jacksonville her home for the last 17 years. Christina also serves as our Senior Adult Director and Embrace Grace facilitator.  

Christina is the proud parent to Mark and daughter-in love, Cathy, and Danielle, and proud grandmother to Rebecca and Isabella.  She is an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and loves cats.

Her life verse is Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”.

PAUL MAHLA, Youth Director

Paul has been serving at Normandy Park Baptist Church since 2021. Paul is a native Floridian, born and raised in Jacksonville. He became a born-again Christian after receiving Christ shortly after graduating High School. Paul went on to pursue an education at the University of North Florida and earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications. Paul has served as a Youth Pastor at other churches since 2015.  

During his ministry, he was called to attend Seminary at Liberty University to continue his spiritual calling. In March of 2020, Paul married his best friend Gigi who also ministers to students at NPBC. Together they have a dog named Buffy and enjoy going to the beach and binge-watching Netflix shows.
